The custodial parent of children is generally entitled to an order of child support. In New York, child support is governed by the Child Support Standards Act (CSSA), a formula based system to determine child support. The CSSA is found here.
Child support also includes add on expenses, which are usually paid in proportion to the parent’s income. Add on expenses include unreimbursement medical expenses, child care and the cost of medical insurance.
